There is a certain standard that all safety vests must adhere to, in terms of visibility and practicality. While the old standard was known as ANSI 107, this updated version has a number of benefits that can be applied to the safety level of all workers, be they emergency medical responders or police officers. Although the old certification system applied not only to safety vests but also to jackets, shirts, and pants, this new design is specifically for safety vests only. This focused design effort has helped make sure that the ANSI 207 public safety vests focus on the issues that were specifically a problem with the old safety models, including the fact that they were hindering police officers’ ability to reach their guns quickly in sometimes dangerous situations. Fortunately, that problem has now been fixed, and so the new ANSI 207 standards have been adopted and made mandatory in many states as a result. When there is an accident or crime scene, it’s essential that those life-saving first responders are able to do their job in the most effective way.
